A spider and its web...

were found one morning in the garden.

The photo of another creature living in the garden and eating everything it can reach, was taken by my daughter. Unfortunately, spiders are unable to catch and eat slugs and snails.

View of Auckland II

Here is a view of Auckland CBD (Central Business District) from Stanley Point across Waitemata Harbour. Stanley Point is a part of Greater Auckland indeed.

This small passage has a couple of shops and a cafe, called Java House what was our destination.

Flowers

I can mention two reasons why people love photographing flowers. Firstly the object is always beautiful, I would say it asks you to take a shot. Secondly that unlike birds or insects (usually small objects too) flowers are still, so you can enjoy positioning yourself around the object in a relative comfort.

This one is a kind of orchids, I took the photo in the tropical pavilion of Auckland Domain Winter Gardens.

Rainy day in Waitakere Ranges

When we were leaving our home the Sun was bright. When we arrived to the forest ten minutes later it was rain.

Here is how it looked like that day. The road leads to the Waitakere dam, one of several dams which provide water for Auckland. The dam overlaps a deep gorge with a small stream, but creates a big storage for water.

This tree grows over the gorge to catch the light.

A tiny fungus - only 3 mm tall.

Night Shots

Here is two of my last night shots.

This one should be obviously called Moonlight.

Another picture shows new irises in our garden.

To be honest I must say that the first picture is not a real one. The camera can either shot clouds and a tree with a bright white spot on the place of the moon, or the detailed moon in the absolute darkness. So I have merged two images taken at the same time from the same position (but with different metering modes). Two prevent trembling I put my camera on a tripod and used auto-shot with 2s timer, so I did not touch it.

View of Auckland

Here is one of the views I have while driving to my workplace. It is the very boundary of the urban area. On the background is Rangitoto island, a dormant volcano located in Hauraki gulf.

After some consideration I have decided that the picture I had posted did not match the topic. So I present another View Of Auckland. On the foreground is North Shore residential houses, North Shore hospital is on left and Telstra Clear building is on right. Behind, over Waitemata Harbour, which is almost completely hidden, is Auckland's central part with Sky Tower and some tall buildings. Further away is Mount Eden, one of the many volcano cones remained in the city.
