On my way
Here is some photos taken on my way back home from the office.
This this the bridge over the motorway No.1. As the number suggests this is the main road in New Zealand connecting two extreme points of the country - Cape Reinga and Bluff.
See this place on the map
This road divides two districts - North Shore City and Rodney. Rodney is a country district, while North Shore is obviously the city. So people in the pictured houses enjoy both easy access to all amenities and non-disturbed country life (and great views as well).
Here is a point where I had to put my camera in the bag and keep the steering wheel properly. I was entering a state highway.

Flowers
It is a Birds Of Paradise flower. The photo I made a picture from was taken in Auckland Botanic Gardens. Below are some more photos without such an extensive processing.
Protea.

The fall.
Auckland Botanic Gardens is another regional park of 27 I have mentioned in the previous post. Although it is pretty far from us we visit it several times a year. We love it for its beauty and diversity of plants.

Maori Carvings at Arataki
This Maori carvings is called Pou, that means guardian post, and stands at the entrance of Arataki Visitors Centre. It represents the ancestors of the local iwi (tribe) Te Kawerau a Maki, and it is one of the highest in the country.
Auckland Regional Council operates 27 regional parks, one of the biggest - Waitakere Ranges - is located close to our house. Every park has a kind of information centre, it can be just a stand with a map and some leaflets. Arataki Visitors Centre is the information centre for Waitakere Ranges. It is like a museum telling you about unique and diverse natural features of this area. More information can be found here.
The photo above was taken during Kid's Fun Day at Arataki. You can see this carvings also on the following picture.
People at the foreground are members of a drum band, their performance was a part of the fun day.

On the beach
I took this photo at Maori Bay. On the nearby cliffs is a gannet colony and below are tern nests.
More photos from that place - Muriwai beach.
